2016 Fall Forum and Board Meeting – November 11 – 13, Indianapolis, IN
Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!
The Indiana Daffodil Society will be your host for the 2016 Fall Forum and Board Meeting (FBM) in Indianapolis, IN at the brand new Hilton Garden Inn, Airport hotel. The Fall Forum is a new name for an all-new, all-ADS member event, and although it includes the ADS Fall Board Meeting, it is not just an event for the ADS Board members. The Forum will start out as usual, with Friday being the travel day for most participants, plus cocktails, dinner, and the big ADS bulb auction in the evening.
Saturday will include a symposium, an experimental fall-blooming daffodil show, and, of course, the Fall Board meeting, but not necessarily in that order. More details on the Fall Daffodil Show will appear in the December Journal so exhibitors can plan ahead on their fall blooming daffodil exhibits. To be honest, we will be pleased if we get enough exhibits to fill a couple of tables, and are not expecting a huge display, but there could be some surprises from creative exhibitors who do some early digging and pre-cooling of bulbs they’ve dug from their own gardens or even pre-cooled bulbs purchased from a place like Brent and Becky’s. Hopefully we can all get to see some of the exotic fall-blooming flowers such as N. viridiflorous and N. serotinus in person and learn a little bit about them from their exhibitor(s).
Non-board members are encouraged to attend not only the weekend, but the Board meeting, too, or they may elect to play a daffodil trivia game or Bingo during the Board meeting instead, complete with prizes.
All Fall Forum participants will be asked to bring one or two special bulbs, out-of-commerce, please, and on par with what one would expect from a National Bulb Exchange, but there might be some unexpected twists to our exchange to keep you on your toes!
A breakfast with speaker is planned for Sunday morning, and then we’ll load the buses for a couple of local stops, as yet to be decided.
The weekend is designed to maximize the education and entertainment of members and minimize the cost to be inclusive. We hope the Fall Forum can be a way for ADS to stay better connected with its members throughout the year, not just in Spring.
