Under Andrea’s leadership, the Krohn dazzles visitors year-round with permanent installations of tropicals, cacti, and orchids, and rotating displays including the blockbusters International Butterfly Show and Holiday Floral Show. The Krohn also partners with plant societies to sponsor their annual horticultural displays of roses, orchids, bonsai, and Ikebana. This year Andrea opened the Krohn as a venue for the South Western Ohio Daffodil Society show and the Greater Cincinnati Daylily Hosta Society shows. Developing, designing and presenting the butterfly show each year is one of the highlights of her work, where she enjoys the opportunity to meet people from around the world through managing the USDA permissions and purchase of the butterflies (10,000 butterflies each year!). More than 1.5 million people visit the Zoo annually. The Zoo features more than 500 animal and 3,000 plant species, making it one of the largest Zoo collections in the country. Working with a fraction of the total Zoo budget, the Botanical Garden offers outstanding plant displays in a unique blend of gardens and landscapes, designed for beauty but also geared toward education. Deb leads many of the educational programs at the Zoo’s garden, especially those for children. The Cincinnati Zoo was the venue for the South Western Ohio Daffodil Society Show for many years, with Deb as strong supporter and ally.
